Building a Reputation: Former top executive launches local contracting firm
PressBuilder Rene Capistran has taken the leap from the corporate world to running his own general contracting company: Noble Texas Builders LLC.
The Brownsville native spent 15 years with SpawGlass, rising through the executive ranks to become president of the company’s South Texas Region, encompassing Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley up through Laredo. The company has six offices around the state.
In October 2014, Capistran decided it was time for a change.
Corporate life took its toll,” he said. “I spent a lot of time on an airplane and not too much time with my three kids.
He and a couple of colleagues at SpawGlass had talked about forming their own venture, though it was just talk at first. A year ago Capistran decided to take the plunge, launching Noble Texas Builders in February with himself as president, Patrick Williams as vice president and Alfredo Garcia Jr. coming on as director of operations.
They landed their first contract in March, a McAllen doctor’s office. Since then the company has remodeled the former Italian Coffee Company building on Ruben Torres Boulevard to house Krispy Kreme, done several smaller projects for H-E-B, recently completed the pharmacy for Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville, and was awarded the contract to renovate the hospital’s entire third floor.
The company, which has offices in Weslaco and Austin, is also doing a lot of renovation work for Magic Valley Electric Cooperative, Capistran said. Noble has had no shortage of work from the beginning, thanks to the partners’ reputation in the industry as well as client relationships formed through their years with SpawGlass, he said.
