With over one mile of beachfront, this 200+ acre facility, "Isla Blanca Park" is known as the crown jewel of South Texas. The project was funded by a $23 million dollar bond and required an aggressive start to avoid losing a portion of the funding. One of many creative initiatives included identifying the scopes of work the County could handle with their own forces such as mitigation/relocation of sand dunes. TAMU-Kingsville students and Hoticulture department faculty were brought on site to help re-establish vegetation in other areas of the beach. This yielded significant savings and time for the project.
